The Golden Compass — Carnegie Medal Winner

14 07 2007

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Carnegie Medal, the UK’s most prestigious prize in children’s literature, readers were invited to vote on their all-time favorite book from a list of ten previous Medal winners. Philip Pullman‘s The Golden Compass (published in the UK as Northern Lights) received more than 40% of the votes in this global poll! You can order the book here or get the complete trilogy in a boxed set — and get your boys reading even more — here!

The Golden Compass Movie will be out on December 7th, so you have lots of time to read the book before sharing the movie with your boys.

welcome to boys read too!

12 07 2007

Boys read too is a blog about books for boys. We hear time and time again that boys are reluctant readers and if we as a society, and as parents and teachers become more aware of this issue, and are armed with quality books that boys will really enjoy, we may be able to turn those reluctant readers into avid ones.

This blog will include news about readership, book reviews and I encourage, whole-heartedly, for you to share your experiences with boys reading (or as a boy reading).
